This is replica of the chess set Harry Potter played on in the movie Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone. The Isle of Lewis chess set is a faithful reproduction of the earliest known European chess set and is a genuine replica of the world famous Isle of Lewis chess pieces on display in the British Museum. Because of the direct involvement of the British Museum in developing the molds for these chessmen, this is the closest reproduction of the historic Lewis chessmen available today. Originally discovered on the Isle of Lewis around 1170, they are of Scandinavian origin. The light colored chess pieces have an antique ivory finish. This set is made from a composite of crushed stone and resin, which makes for the look and feel of stone, while exhibiting the durability of a composite. Included is a Walnut and Maple wooden board d that is a perfect fit for the unique Isle of Lewis chess set. The King is 3.75 inches in height and a base of 1.75 inches. BONUS! This elegant chess set package includes our Fierce Knight Staunton Chess Set in red sandalwood and boxwood matched with our Bud Rosewood and Maple Deluxe Chess Board. The Fierce Knight has a knight with a fierce countenance from which this set is named. The knight's fine detail is exquisite with special attention paid to the mane, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. All of the pieces have a slender profile with a graceful curve from the collar to the base. The king has a trational formee cross while the queen's crown is turned to the perfect thickness to keep from easily breaking and has 9 points that are perfectly spaced. The bishop miter is slender and symetrical from top to bottom with a wide slot that is rounded on each side.

The blend of red, burngy, and coral colors of the red sandalwood chess pieces look stunnging against the dark burgundy of the bud rosewood chess board. They are nearly a perfect match. The board has an elegant molded edge finished with a solid black finish to match with the wide black inlay border around the squares. While simple in concept, it creates a beautiful chess board. A wonderful chess set package that any chess player or collector would love to own.
